The State could make the Olympia Regional Airport commercial again. Especially if Thurston County becomes the site for a next mega airport.
According to the CACC, electric flying may lead to distributed flying, where passengers fly from small airports with air taxis to the mega airport to transfer, or passengers fly directly with jet-fueled planes to a regional destination.
A mega airport in Thurston County will inextricably be linked to the Olympia Regional Airport. While clean and quiet flying is being promoted, it is in its infancy. It is experimental. It is premature to justify commercial aviation expansion with promises that are decades away and with no obligation or accountability attached to the mega tax payer dollars who will build the expansion for industry members.
